What is Aquaponics?
The most simple way to describe it is that it’s the marriage of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants).
With Aquaponics you grow fish and plants together in one integrated system. The fish produce waste that provides an organic food source for the growing plants. The plants in turn provide a natural filter for the water the fish live in.
Also participating are microbes (nitrifying bacteria) and composting red worms that thrive in the growing media. They do the job of converting the ammonia from the fish waste into nitrites, then into organic compost that serves as food for the plants.
Our Aquaponic systems are perfect if you are already raising Tilapia or Trucha (trout). The system can be installed directly above your tank or pond (see photo for example)…
Aquaponic systems are installed solely on a custom basis according to the customer’s requirements and specifications.
